Nothing you can do is going to give you 100 hp to keep up with a 3.5. Better off trading it in for a faster vehicle. Off the line you'll never beat the 3.5, but driving around town if you gradually give it more gas as the CVT is trying to downshift, you will feel a little bit of a rush driving.
Some people add turbochargers, NOS and do other engine mods to add more power. I don't think it's worth the cost or risk of blowing your engine / transmission.
