Default 2009 Altima big dissapointment!

Hi guys,

Thanks for reading my post, It's a bit long but please finish it and let me know how I should deal with this issue. Any suggestion welcome.

I purchsed the vehicle 4 weeks ago and I already have 2 major problem. 1st 2 weeks after buying i noticed a puddle of coolant leak on the garage floor. Dealership did take responsbility and fix the problem but i am questioning the quality of altima.
2nd Condensation inside of all 4 lamps (front and rear). I think this is a problem for other owner of this vehicle. They recommend taking the vehicle back to the dealership and have them replaced. I did so and guess what Dealship say "NO, This is a normal for water vapor to become visible". However it's not vapor it's water drops forming inside the lamp. I went back to the dealership twice to resolve this issue but both time nothing happen. They even made a print out of a technical bulletin (NTB03-074D) showing me it was normal. Dealship return the car without condenstation inside the lamp but guess what they did to clear the water/fog? They turn on low beam headlamps and hazard flasher for 20 minutes to heat up the moduel and clear the condensation I mean come on, what kind of BS is this??

When I realized they are not going to do anything to help, I called Nissan Canada customer service to seek for help. And yeah, you guess it. SORRY WE CAN'T HELP "WE STAND 100% BEHIND the DIAGNOSE OF THE DEALERSHIP". I was thinking why bother having a customer service line if they agree to whatever the dealership have to say. I further explain to the agent the problem worsen if it start to rain about 1/3 of the lamp is fogged. He told me " you should bring the vehicle in for inspection when this happen" Give me a break, who have the time to bring the vehicle back every so often, i have a life and things to do. I can't predict the weather and often when I drove back from work dealership is close. 50% of the fog vaporize several hour park inside the garage so when i drove to the dealership they just turn on the light for 20 min to clear the condensation and tell me it all normal.

4 weeks into owning this vehicle I went back to the dealership 5 times already. Everytime i looked at the fogged up lamp It's a constant reminder "maybe i should go with a HONDA or Toyota intead". This is shouldn't happen, it a dame brand new car but i guess shi happen.

Lastly, What would you guys do if you are in my shoe? what would you do? will you just suck it up and forget about it? or you will fight to the last breath? Honestly I am tired of all this BS. Please let me know what you guys think.

Thanks

J.C

Another unsatisfied new Altima owner.. It's becoming a trend.
I, like I have, would fight for all of these problems to be resolved. This is unacceptable for a month old car.. It's ridiculous, and Nissan knows it! But their Nissan "CARE" and service suck very much when it comes to problems with their precious hunk 'o junk vehicles.

They are CRAP. But they won't take responsibility for that.

Believe me, if i had a little bit better credit and didn't have to constantly work, i'd have a 2009 Accord EX-L Coupe sitting in my garage right now.

There are lemon laws to deal with this kind of crap. If there's a documented problem and you go back to the dealership and they don't fix it there are laws to protect the consumer. Find out what these laws are in your place and use them. Complain to the BBB (if there's such a thing in Canada) and meanwhile place a sign on your vehicle that says *this car is a lemon, I bought it from (name of dealer) and they refuse to do anything about it*. Ultimately consult a lawyer for your legal rights (I know, going from dealing with the parasites at the dealer to deal with a parasite lawyer but between parasites they can duke it out).

Keep it clean!

Down here, condensation in the lamps won't pass inspection - the moisture will prematurely burn the bulbs out, and burnt out bulbs just aren't safe.

Geminis, I assume you are from North of the border, yes? The Lemon Laws down here pretty well state what HD1974 has already said. Assuming they work the same way up there (which I am not remotely qualified to discuss), you can probably just threaten to invoke the Lemon Law and get it taken care of. Typically, a dealership will resolve the issue to avoid the legal headaches & bad press.

That said, guys I'm surprised. I've put 30,000 trouble-free miles on my 08. Nothing so much as a peep. Clear lenses, great quality materials inside, and I am continually impressed with the car. Notably enough, that is coming from a guy who has driven high end luxury cars all his life - the Altima is the cheapest car that we have ever had in the family, but it is not out of place in the least.

Man I abso-****in-lutely LOVE my '09 3.5 SE. I guess working at the dealership has its perks although I've never had a problem with my car so far... sorry for your bum luck, if you need anything just let me know and I will try to help as much as I can.

Try taking the bulb out of the lamp for a couple hours on a dry day. Leave the car facing into the sun. It should dry out. Just heating up the lamp with the lights will only vaporize the moisture in the lamp but it can't escape since its sealed.

people fail to realize that automakers won't make all vehicles perfect and parts do fail no matter where they are made

with that said, it is sorry that nissan won't fix your headlight problem

people also fail to realize that being a **** hole wont get you anywhere. If you patient and know how to talk to people (service writers etc) then we will be more tolerant of your problems and might be willing to help you out... or just keep being a douche bag and nothing will go right for you and you can keep coming on here posting your problems to a bunch of strangers who probably dont give 2 ----s about it anyways, they just feel bad for you cause your to stuck up your own ass to actually try and be nice to anyone cause you have a dime sized area of condensation in your light
get over yourself

So this isn't a NEW Car?

You bought a returned vehicle? Or is it a repo, Or was it in a collision and the original owner bailed?

There is water in ALL 4 Lights?

sounds like your problems are larger than a little warranty issue with yer service writer.

This situation is even called out in the owners manual that "temperature differentials" can cause condensation in the headlights. I have not seen this in my 09 but I have experienced it in other cars.

Not trying to be rude or anything but, why don't you just go fix it your self, there's bunch of after market parts out there. Especially since the dealership is not trying to resolve the problem. This is what I would if I were in your shoes. When you think about treating to get a lawyer to sue them is just going to make things worse and costly.
