2010 2.5L SL with Magnaflow Exhaust Install Pictures
Just posting this thread so I can show another member here pictures of my magnaflow mufflers installation.
I had these installed last august or september. coupled with the takeda intake, it sounds great. it gets loud when I step on it, it gets quiet when I am just riding.

well when I got them, I was looking for something that I could hear if I wanted to (i.e., get on the gas), but something that would not be loud when just out and about. We had just found out my wife was pregnant when I got these, so I knew I would have a baby back there, so I didn't want anything to loud and didn't want a constant drone. These are perfect.
Glad you liked the pictures, and I was happy to help.

Curious question: do they mufflers themselves produce the noise or is it more the engine and the intake.
Basically, Is it better to get a full catback or to just put mufflers on?

I like how the exhaust tips are flush with the bumper like the factory tips...I don't personally care for ones that protrude outwards!
@G0N0Les...are you going to add a stillen or racingline front strut brace and possibly a rear anti-sway bar??

I will try to post a video, just been busy and I have seen videos of exhaust on here and nclub and they just don't sound at all like they do in person. If it sounded ricey at all, I would have taken them off. I come from a performance/muscle car background, can't stand rice and would never make my car sound like that. I even had a deal with the guy that I took my mufflers too, that once they were installed, if it sounded like rice, he would remove them, reinstall stock with new tips plus give me some cash for the mufflers. I never had to go back.

I installed the eibach prokit and got a alignment. did not need the camber kits at all. I paid for the lifetime alignment on my car, since I knew I wasn't done with the suspension. so anytime I feel the need, I can take it up there and they will check and fix the alignment, no cost no questions.

I think its a combination of both. I put the intake on first, you could hear it sucking in that air. It made the car sound better, but it was all engine noise.
I put just the mufflers on and most of that engine noise disappeared, and started coming from the rear. Like most mods, they have benefits all their own, but they work better when coupled with another mod.
I am sure getting a full catback would probably give a little better sound or maybe even a little more HP, but the question you have to ask yourself, is the difference in price between just two mufflers vs a full on exhaust justified for the little more benefit you get. The other option is to do custom piping at your muffler shop, same benefits as all new exhaust, much much cheaper price.

It took three of us, one to hold the muffler, me to stand back and make sure it was centered and not protruding out, and the other guy to weld it to make sure they were even and sticking out just barely. I am very happy not only with the quality of the muffler, but the quality of the install as well.
I am going to add a front strut brace, and I am not sure about the anti sway bar yet. I was strongly considering that second stage suspsension package from Eibach. I don't know which strut tower brace I will get, they each have their own benefits.
However, my wife is due with our first baby tomorrow, so I am not going to be buying anything soon for my car. Not to mention on Sunday we just bought her a 2010 JEEP Grand Cherokee and traded in her Mazda 3, more room for her and baby and much safer. The best thing about the JEEP is that now we don't take my car everywhere we go... Sticker price on this JEEP last June when someone bought it was 34K (they left the sticker in the glove box). They traded it in with only 9400 miles on it. We got it for 17K after trade in and negotiation. They had it listed for 23K. I talked them down to 19, they gave us 9K for the Mazda, we only owed 2300. Probably the best car negotiation and buying experience I have had.
Here's a picture of the JEEP! That's the inferno metallic red paint color (there was an upcharge of 250 bucks on the original sticker for this color choice).
and another
another
last one
I love my altima, but man this thing is nice. A great combination of cars to have, because everytime we go somewhere together with the baby I get to drive the JEEP, but I get to drive my altima every day too, can't beat it.

Ok yeah thats what I was thinking. You are right, Mufflers are much cheaper. The catback I wanted to get(NISMO) I could get for around $650, and then another $150 or so for install. I could get two borla mufflers for a good price that would be more than half the price for the catback. I never really understood how Mufflers work(not a car guy).
So I just buy 2 mufflers and take them in and they remove the stock mufflers and put these on the stock piping? Do most mufflers come with tips?
Lets say I put Borla mufflers on with no intake right now, would it sound different then stock. The Question I always ask too:...Mufflers do anything to warranty? or intakes do anything to warranty?
Thanks Man, nice looking Jeep, if I had to get one I would go for the newest Grand Cherokee, those things are sexy. Congratz on the baby as well!

You can buy mufflers with or without tips pre-installed. Yes, they will cut the factory pipes where the stock mufflers connect and weld the new ones on.
Putting aftermarket mufflers on will change the sound, but the sound will be improved by putting on an intake as well, they compliment eachother.
Mufflers will not void your warranty. The intake should not void your warranty either, but best to keep the stock air intake put away so you could always put it back on if you ever needed to for any warranty work.
Thanks for the compliments on the Jeep, I love it, fun and comfortable to drive and now we don't have to drive the altima everywhere...which is nice.
We are excited about the baby. We were just told today that they are going to induce my wife on Friday, so less than 48 hours to go, and we will be parents, for the first time. we are excited and scared all together.

Im hoping for a sound that is not ricey at all...

In all honesty I really just want the sound for now...I could really care less about the slight HP gains on a 3.5...
