Question 2011 Altima 3.5SR sedan fog light installation

Hi guys, I am new here.I just purchased a 2011 3.5SR without the fog light. I saw some videos of installation of it on youtube, but does anyone know how I can integrate the fog light with the headlight?

Welcome, and congrats on the purchase. Didn't know the 3.5SR wouldn't come standard with fog lights. Wouldn't it be easier to install them in the cutout on the bumper.

Mine is the base model, so no fog light installed. I am done with the HID headlight and planing to install foglights and air spoiler. Can anyone give me some advice?

If you do a search for fog lights there is a discussion on all you would need to know, such as if your car is already pre- wired and all that's involved so search Foglights and go to the one by jpl7493 and if not by-tonight or tomorrow someone will give you more info if u still need it.

I have done a lot research on it, and almost know how to do the installation with the switch. But what I am thinking is not installing the swith but just integrating the foglight with the headlight switch. I cannot find any information about this.

You can replace the stalk, apparently you can purchase a new stalk with the Foglight insignia on it on E-Bay or pay more and get from dealer. You would have to remove panel under steering column to access stalk to replace it and like I said you can check at your fuse box or check in-behind your bumper to see if your pre-wired.

I do not want to replace the stalk, just wish to use the original switch to control both the headlight and the foglight. I have checked that it is pre-wired.

Ok bonus that it is pre-wired, isn't your headlights on the stalk, left side of steering column? You would repplace that with a new one that has the foglight switch as part of the headlight\ foglight stalk. Now your new stalk has your headlights and foglights on it like factory.

Thanks for the explanation first. I guess you didn't get my point. What I expect is to integrate the fog light and head light into one switch (the original one) which means if I turn on the head light, the fog light is also on. I have no idea if this works.

No real reason why this wouldn't, so the in the fuse panel you would find the fuse for the headlights or for parking lights if you wanted them to come on with your parking lights just to give you another option and get your power for the Foglights there. You will have
to check the amp of the fuse probably 10amp and ckeck the amp of you Foglights so you don't overload the circuit.

The easiest way to accomplish what you want is to put the fog lights in and then just splice into your headlight wires behind your bulbs in the engine bay. Make sure you connect them good, then sodder them together and wrap with electrical tape after that. That will ensure a good connection that won't come apart in the future.

This will allow for your fog lights to come on when your headlights do.

Might I suggest though, instead splicing into your parking lot wiring, your parking lights are on when your headlights are on, but if you just want your headlights on (say its around dusk, not dark enough for headlights), then you could turn on your parking lights and fog lights, then when it gets darker and your headlights come on, your fogs will already be on. This is exactly what I did on my mustang years ago, worked like a champ.
