I had the same problem on my 2011. The reason this happens is that the accessory fuse is in the "out" position. Nissan does that with new cars because otherwise the battery would run out if the car is parked for months at the dealer.
Here is how you fix it:
1) Open the drivers' side door and sit on the ground.
2) Pop open the fuse box (to the bottom left of the steering wheel.
3) You will see a white box like thing in the middle of the fuses. This white box contains the accessory fuse. It will be slightly pulled out.
4) Push this white box thing firmly in with your thumb.
5) Start up the car and go for a 10 mile drive.
6) Set the A/C off with the vent at whatever position you want.
Shut off the engine and after a while restart it. The problem will be fixed!
None of the dealers know it and it is not written anywhere in the owners manual.
