My questions are;
1. CVT vs traditional auto trans. Likes, dislikes.
2. Any problems of "normal" oil consumption
Any other common problems with the car. If there is a link to a previous thread like this one can someone point me in that direction. Otherwise all comments are welcome.

I think most people on here would say they prefer a traditional auto tranny or the manual obviously. The cvt was designed for fuel economy and is essentially or supposed to be an ideal transmission because it's a sealed system of pulleys asopposed to a traditional automatic transmission.
If you're concerned with rapid oil consumption, I would look into synthetic oil.
The cool thing about the altimas over the accords is that altimas are more fun to drive and most internal engine mods are geared towards nissans. There's not too much in the case of hondas or toyotas.
The only problems I've seen with altimas was with the 3rd gen 02-06 where they had pre-cat issues but could be replaced with aftermarket 4-2-1 headers. The 4th and 4.5 gen altimas don't have that issue. The one big thing about the 4th gens is that nissan moved the fuse box further in the engine bay, so the only kind of intake you can put on is a short ram/warm air intake. The CAIs were only for the 02-06's.
