Default 96 Altima won't start

I have a 96 Altima that usually doesn't give me too much issue but right now is. I can't get it to start. I started the car on the way in to work and it seemed to hesitate on startup. I drove it all the way to work and at lunch decided to clean the battery terminals to see if that was the problem. When I disconnected the terminals and put them back on I got nothing. I can run the radio and everything electrical until I try to start the car and everything goes off. I took the battery to Advances Auto and they checked and charged the battery and still nothing. I even tried to jump the car and still got no sound what so ever. I towed the car home yesterday and when I put it in Acc there is now a humming sound coming from the transmission case. It goes off when I turn the car off of course or the batter terminals, but other than that it just hums and I don't get any sound from the starter or anything for it to start. I am at a loss what to do. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I think it is needed to e checked thouroughly to find out why it is happening so..The problem is minor and will be solved easily..but the only thing required is that it is to be checked.

Nissan Performance Chips
Nissan Headlights

Put the gear selector in neutral and try to start it. You could have a bad park/neutral switch.

Since you were cleaning the battery terminals I'm assuming they were pretty bad, check the main hot wire that runs to the starter for corrosion, shake the wire and move it around a good bit and see if it does anything different, if the wire is to bad, it won't do anything and you will have to replace it.

One other possible thing is, look on the floor board for a round piece of rubber and the lay on your back and look up at the brake pedal, You will have two pressure switches, make sure they have the rubber plugs in them.
