You have to EVAC your a/c system. If the tube broke then moisture and debris could have gotten in the a/c lines. If you don't EVAC your system, then you run the chance of siezing your compressor. If your compessor is bad too and needs to be replaced, then you should install the oil before starting the system and before putting in the freon. If you have low pressure, then something is loose or you have another breach. Oh, and the stock 97s have a freon free system.
