Default Accidental fob operation -

I carry a pocket knife in the same poscket with the fob for my 09 Altima.
I am CONSTANTLY setting off the alarm, opening the turnk, etc. due to the knife resting up against one of the fob buttions.

It got so bad that I went to Lowes and bought a foot of flexible clear plastic tubing with a 1" ID and made a SLEEVE for the fob out of it. It is a REALLY tight fit over the fob, and I drilled holes in the tubing to lign up with the center of the buttons on the fob. I can still operate them by using the END of my thumb pressed down into one of the holes in the sleeve.
But the tubing thickness is sufficient that it keeps the knife from ever touching one of the buttons -

I have driven Nissans since 1982, and loved every single one of them -
This fob is the first thing I have seen them produce which is a bit lacking in the design department; convex buttons on a pocket fob is a BAD idea!!

It sounds like your fob is extra sensitive. I always have lots of crap in my pockets with no inadvertent openings or horn honks.

I too keep a pocket knife with me at all times on my key chain, I have found that putting those value cards you get from like supermarkets and stuff in between the knife and the fob help. My pocket knife never sets off my alarm or anything, but I do it to avoid scratching the fob with the metal edges of the pocket knife so I would imagine this could help you out.

My friend at the dealership said they have had several complaints about this.
The WORST problem I had with it was when our motel room in Sarasota, FL was very close to the car. When I walked outside in the morning, the trunk was open - and had been, apparently, all night.
The most IRRITATING problem I had was when I was on my back under my wifes truck installing the trailer wiring harness. The car was parked right next to me, and in squirming around I tripped the panic alarm, which blasted the horn right in my ear until I could squirm around enough to get my hand in my pocket and shut it off.

I have now had the sleeve on the fob for over a week -
NO accidental trips of any button, and operating it is still easy -
The only drawback is that the sleeving adds to the size of an already oversized fob -

Try this one on for size. On two occasions at work and a few at home my front windows would open (if the lock and unlock keys are pressed at the same time) and the trunk would be open. I have set of my alarm more than a few times as well. I have taken to NOT having the FOB in my pockets at anytime. There are sleeves that you can buy on Ebay that will help.

Ha! The windows will open when you hold the door lock open button for about 5 seconds. Unless you have remote start on the same fob, the car shouldn't start.

I tried holding the lock for over five seconds, then tried it on the unlock, then on both at once. The windows never budged, but I did manage to turn OFF the 'sound horn on remote lock' feature. Repeating the operation brought it back, though -

The operation should work with the unlock button. You may have to hold the button for a little more then 5 seconds.

I've tried this with mine too - and the windows don't budge. I just look like an idiot standing there with my key fob in my hand. Is this some option that can be programmed or something? I live in Texas, and I'd love to be able to unlock my car and roll my windows down before I get there to let all the hot air out. However, the trunk opening I can do without.

For the third gen, you press the unlock button once, then press and hold it again to open the windows. Some vehicles, like my wife's 01 Highlander, the windows will roll down if you insert the key into the door lock, turn the key to unlock the door and just hold it there. I'm very surprised the new generation won't do it.

Saw a youtube video on how to roll down the windows with the key fob on Altimas shortly after purchasing my last winter and was very disappointed when it didn't work on the 4.5 Gens. Bummer...

But I did read this old thread with interest because I cannot wash, work on, bend over or sometimes even get in the drivers seat without setting off the car Alarm... Sometimes twice when I'm washing the car. And I'm a thin guy that wears pretty baggy cloths.

So instead of going to Lowe's and buying some tubing and drilling holes in it like the originator of the thread did. (Thought that would look pretty lame). I purchased this leather Fob holder off of Ebay. Hope it works.
