I am trying to change a brake light in my 04. I've seen the manual and books explain how to take the clips off, move the trunk carpet aside, pry off the wire harness and remove the nuts on the two screws. Everything I've read says that after these steps the light assembly cover should be able to be removed. Mine does not seem to want to come off. It seems like there is some type of caulk or sealant all the way around the rim. I've even tried to pry it with a screwdrive but it just starts to bend the metal casing.

What am I doing wrong? The book and other posts I've seen make this sound so easy. Is mine the only Altima out there where the back light covers are sealed?
