I'm not sure but I've always questioned even doing an intake upgrade on our cars... same thing with the Infiniti G35's (my friend has one) because the intake setup already grabs cold air right from in front of the car through the grille and you don't have to worry about sucking in water from the bottom of your car... But then again you get more flow so idk... I was actually thinking about maybe just doing a K&N drop-in air filter for now and that should be pretty decent.

As for other intakes, I'm not sure.

as long as it has mandrel bands and is at least 3 inches in diameter it does not matter really

On some other sites people really like the Fujita because it can be had for less than $200. There's also the option of the Free WAI mod (which I'll be doing next week). Or you could also see if you could find a MAF adapter and put a cone filter on using the stock intake tubing. All of which will see some gains.

all intakes are relatively the same. piping is piping, what you pay extra for is a good filter...K&N is the best out there.

One brand is not going to have much difference over another. I'd go for the cheapest in price (not ebay ofcourse) and you'll be happy

It all depends which altima you have...
the newer ones have a different set up compared to the older ones...
i have a 3.5 se 2008, i just run a direct drop in filter. Just from that there are small gains due to have less constricted air flow. The only CAI i know of on the market for this vehicle is a AEM 21-499c/p... I imagine that is the kit to have if you have a 3.5 model after 2007, if anyone has this kit btw id like some feedback on it. Costs vary 350 - 500 $ even more to import it from the states which is what i would have to do as i live in the UAE and no local dealers supply this model. Which sucks, anyone wanna send me one?
:-P feel free. It may be better just to have some custom piping made with any easy flow filter attached just got to make sure all the sensors are in the correct place or ya car may not start...

I got a blue AEM for $185 through Discount Tire. It works and sounds great!

The magic is in the filter. E-bay or not, piping is piping. You can make your own out of pvc from your local hardware store. Don't be fooled by brand name marketing - they have to earn back their R & D somehow.

AEM filter on my Berk intake. Stay away from oil type filters so you don't gunk up your MAF. Granted, the 05-06 MAFs are lightyears better than the 02-04 with regards to failure, but why take a chance. Oil will coat the sensor and then failure comes next. Look for a dry filter.

CAI vs WAI - difference is negligible. My buddy has a CAI, I'm running a WAI and I think I'm louder, but that could be because of pipe length. He's running in an 03 SE. Just replaced his MAF. We think it's because the carwashes wet his filter too much and the water got to the sensor. Not like it was sucking it up like a straw, but just the vapor...over and over and over.

When I added the berk, I ran a pipe from directly underneath it to feed a little extra cold air into the engine bay. Next I'm going to partition the area around the filter so it'll only breathe the cold air. Cold air benefits without the cold air risks.

But in all, I strongly suggest choosing an oil-less filter.

I agree! There is not a big difference in most kits. Just make sure they seal well and have a cool ar flow to them, away from water spray.

Both my friend and I have been using Injen for years and really delivers on cold air and performance. I've notice quite a difference once I installed my intake the other week on my 05 Altima
