Body Work Question
My brand new 2008 Altima got whacked by a shopping cart during a severe thunderstorm. The cart put a 2 in gouge in the rear driver side door. I brought the car to a very reputable collision shop that carries a lifetime guarantee on its work.
I picked up the car this afternoon. Being the car has 2000 miles on it, I expected and paid for the best body work available. When I look at the repaired area at certain angles, there is a slight wavy appearance in the vicinity of the collision. I immediately pointed this out the customer sales rep, who said it was simply the reflection of the new paint, and the slight wavy appearance would disappear over time. Not happy with this answer, I asked to speak to the manager, who also said that the body work itself was fine, and it was only a reflection of paint. He also said that since they guarantee their work, that I should feel free to bring elsewhere to have their work validated.
All in all the work looks very good, but I am not an autobody professional. I took some digital pics of the area in question, but it doesnt show the waviness that I myself can see. Before I drive myself crazy, is this normal with autobody work and I am just being a tight-ass, or is this a line of BS.
