Default Center console

For some days the latches that close the cubbyholes between the seats weren't closing properly. Yesterday one of them fell off with a little screw still attached to it. I can't screw it back on because the screw hole is covered by the armrest between the seats. I have tried to remove this armrest cover but can't figure out how to do it.

I took it to a stealership who first told me that it was broken and when I pointed out it was a simple screw they told me they didn't fix that kind of thing, they'd have to replace the entire unit. Since I cant stand these scummy bastards I'd like to do it myself. But I need to figure out how to get to the screwhole.

I think you have to pry it back but don't quote me on it. When I had my Altima, the center console top never latched right but I think there is a TSB out on it.

Thanks DJ. I tried to pry it open but don't really want to force it lest I break it. I just called Nissan and the lady there told me *you have to trust the dealership* and didn't bat an eyelash when I told her those guys would probably charge Nissan (vehicle still under warranty) $500 to screw in a small plastic part.

Anyone who could tell me how to pry this open has my thanks.

No problem, I hope you can successfully get it opened without paying a dime.

Hi HD. I have the same problem where the latch just fell off the other day and I can't get the top armrest off. Did you have any luck figuring it out?

I'm sorry dude but I'm afraid I found no solution myself. In the end I had to have it fixed at the dealership though with the car still under warranty I didn't have to pay. Keep looking though - specially if your warranty is expired - you're bound to find something. Break a leg.
