Post Couple of questions to get me started

Good evening all. I purchased my 2009 Nissan Altima 2.5 S back in August of 2009 with 8 miles on it. I enjoy it very much. Very pleased with it. I took advantage of the free maintaince for a year from Nissan but now that I just passed the 15,000 mile mark, the dealer wants to hit me with a $259 "required" service which includes alignment, belts, and other required purchases for other items that I know didnt need replacing. So all in all, I got into a big altercation with the service manager and told her to stick it. I will perform all the service that I can to my car myself. I have previous mechanical experience and I feel comfortable working on it. The dealer used Castrol 10W30 GTX with Nissan filter and I switched to Mobil 1 5W30 with a Napa Gold Filter. The questions I have are as follows. 1. Does the QR25DE have a timing chain or a timing belt? 2. I have a K&N Filter in the car now but I want to put a cold air intake on. I was looking at the K&N because it has a heat shield but what do you guys think? 3. The dealer quoted me for $159 to replace the incabin microfilter. I can get the filter for $22 and do it myself, but where is the incabin microfilter located? 4. Where can I purchase tranny fluid for the CVT? does the CVT have a filter that I can change or just drain and replace the fluid? and where can I get the tool to remove the tranny dipstick cap without breaking it? 5. Last, I plan on getting exhaust for her as well... I dont want nothing thats going to be loud and annoying like a tuner car. I want something mellow and not excruciating annoying. I was thinking of a chambered muffler like a Flowmaster. What do you guys think? I was planning on using 2 mufflers, just like the stock system. I see that the aftermarket systems are like $700+ so I just plan on replacing the mufflers and/or replacing the pipe from the catback with a 2 1/2 or 3 inch single Y'ing off into the 2 1/4 or 2 inch mufflers and exiting at the stock location with the stock tips. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your time!

1. chain
2. K & N is good
3. Cabin air is behind the glove box
4. Dealer, flush and fill, cap????
5. Your idea is good with two magnaflows. The 2 1/2 piping, or 3", is not going to net you any gain. I would just do the mufflers and keep the rest stock.

Thanks for the reply Mike. Is the cabin air filter hard to get at? I will take a look at it tomorrow and see if I can figure it out. As for the tranny fluid cap, it has some kind of locked cap so I cant check the fluid. It has some kind of dealer seal on it and I was wondering if Advance Auto Parts or Auto Zone has the tool to remove it without breaking. I will keep the stock pipes on but just change the mufflers. Thanks again!

Here is a how to on the cabin air.
I don't know about the tranny dipstick cap. Nissan may have to take care of that. Good luck with the rest of it.

Hey all... I got the exhaust installed today. I went ahead and kept the resonator but went 2 1/4 back to the rear Y-Pipe to 2 1/4 inch Summit 2 Chamber mufflers. The car sounds great. No raspy, high pitched screaming. Its kind of deep sounding. There is also very little drone. I highly recommend going the chambered muffler route vs. the glasspack type of muffler for a 4 cylinder. He only charged me $40 for the installation.
