Hey all I am new to the Altima Forums, I am thinking about buying a 3rd gen Altima but I have a few noob questions to ask, Firstly what are all the classes of the altima and what are the differences in them? Secondly is the v6 faster then the v4 engine (i know pretty dumb question but I gotta ask)? Do altimas last a long time if you do your routine maintence on them? Thanks and glad to join the forums

Welcome to the forums. I have an 03 V6. I love it, there is a big difference between the v6 and the 4 cyl, performance wise. I love how mine accelerates. If you are looking into saving gas well you can go for the 4cyl. My v6 gives me between 20-22 mpg, depending on my driving. Now dealing with the trims, there are the 2.5 S, 2.5 SL, and the v6= 3.5 SE and 3.5SL. I dont know if there are more. Now my recommendations, if you are going to buy an altima 4 cyl, go for an 04 and up, because the 02 and 03 had problems with the pre-catalyst and i dont know what else. Now about durability, yes, if you maintain your car well and dont abuse it much, im sure it would last you a long time.
