Default Customizing

Hey everyone,
Just purchased an 08 Nissan Altima Coupe, love the car ! I'm curious if anyone has any info on customizing the dash (changing from the red-orange stock color of the gauges, radio text, and lighting for the temp. and windows/lock buttons).

Specifically I want to keep the bright white glow of the gauges but want everything that is red-orange (stock color) to be changed...

Any information or pictures would be great! Thanks again.

Here is a quote from another member "vital", and some of his pictures.

It's a huge pita.
I wasn't the one who did all this, i was a "helper" in this mod process. To make it short if u aren't 100% comfortable with soldering gun, soldering process and electronics "from the inside" you shuld NOT do this as you can damage your car big time. Not just parts that you can easily (but not cheaply) replace but bunch of electric damage as well.

It's not your regular "take this bulb out and insert this led in". In addition to taking car and parts apart to the smallest pieces to get to these "bulbs" (that are actually sourface mounted leds) you need to unsolder about 200 tinyass leds and solder new ones (blue or whatever other color u wish) instead. Also some parts (like hvac) have amber film on them that actually gives out that amber color u see - u need to carefully remove it and install a new one depending on which color wanna go with/how nice and vivid u want your color to be. Most of these leds have 4 points of contact with the board so u pretty much have to solder them under magnifiyng glass and very "delicate" solder gun. If solder from any of the contact points will touch solder from another contact point - led will not light up. Now multiply that by 200 lol.

It's really a time consuming pita project with lots of different details i'm not even going to get into since i doubt there'll be people who either know all the soldering/electronics tricks or are crazy enought to "give it a shot" lol.

I wish that they'd change the ugly orange to at least white like some of the mercedes gauges

Maybe not white, but a pure red instead like the BMW's have? I think that would set it off really nice, but that bright blue is winning me over... I want to do this, and am comfortable with electrics - but I dont know if my patience is up to the task!

I would do anything for those guages. They would match my design perfectly since I have the Azure blue paint. Is there someone I could talk to about doing it? Is this the pictures of your interior?

You should PM vital. I believe he helped his friend do it. It's very meticulous work.
