The reason I want to know about Anti Lock Brakes, is my CV joints are rotting. A guy at CarQuest told me on a 1999 Altima GXE, the ABS cv joints have teeth on the part where it hitches to the wheel, whereas, the cv joints for standard brakes do not.
Is there a simple way to determine whether or not I have ABS other than tearing down the brakes and CV joint? Is there a sensor on the outside I can see if I pull the wheel off?
Also I'd like to mention that I poked around this site a bit and am please at the courtesy displayed for less knowledgeable folks.
Thanks.

If you take off the wheel, look on the engine side of the rotor and check out that cv joint. Directly on the wide end of the boot, it will either have a gear with a bunch of teeth or it won't. There is also a sensor most likely on the caliper bracket within close proximity of the gear to sense how fast the teeth are spinning and determines whether the ABS will engage.
I ended up replacing both front axles instead of just the CV joints. The aftermarket shafts I used did come with the ABS rings, and they DO RUB if you have a non-ABS car. As TUnity2 said - you knock off the ring with a punch. They are just pressed on the axle.
