Default Double DIN installation kit for 2011 Altima

Guys I've searched for a while and am curious, does the Metra or Scosche installation kits match the actual OEM "texture" that is found on the vents, head unit and lower compartment door. I am unable to tell from the pics I've seen, they all seem to look like a flat black which would suck IMO. Any help would be appreciated before i get to excited about swapping out this deck. I do appologize I've been outta the game for a little. If not is there any that do match?

Thanks...

From what i have seen the kits that are a exact fit are flat black.if you buy the nissan kit that is for the oem nav it will have the nice pattern but it will be slightly wide on both sides.the oem kit has a Bose logo and bluetooth written on it also

Yeas i have seen installs and it looks like crap to me.too bad the Nissan part is slightly wide it looks so good and if u have a radio with no name on it it will appear as if its Bose since "Bose" is labeled right on the part!

I don't mind the matte black faceplate on the scosche kit. If you LOOK real closely because YOU know what to expect, then you can see the odd difference with the faceplate around the a/c vents being carbon fiber and then it shift to matte black around the head unit and a/c temperature controls.

I'll say one thing though, the matte black finish does pick up a lot of grease from your fingerprints! So when I rest my hand to adjust the volume or skip to the next track, I rest my hand and fingers inside the pocket underneath the head unit. <I chose to go with a single din head unit with under pocket>

How do you guys with double din installs keep your double dins from being stolen?? do any of your head units have a detachable faceplate feature??

they really don't look that bad to be honest...but they are different from stock...not noticeable if you don't own an altima, noticeable if you do. It's really not that big of a deal, and if it is, you could just fabricate your own kit using the scosche/metra kit as a temple and paint / texture it however you want. maybe even stretch some carbon fiber over it or something.

you could probably get this black carbon fiber sticky surface from ijdmtoy.com

good idea guru, that would make it alot easier than taking actual carbon fiber then putting epoxy glaze over it.

All aftermarket kits look like ----.
Nissan actually has 2 different faceplates for dds. One that's mentioned here - a bit too big for standard dd and one that's PERFECT.
Ill post pics tomorrow since im on the phone now.

And in security - ebay double din security faceplate

My old pics, taken the day i installed my DNX.
OEM faceplate that matches color AND texture 100%. The only faceplate i would use as none of the aftermarket look like they actually belong there.

Nope, only an opening for DD.

If u already have metra/scosche kit i'm sure sure you can "combine" oem and aftermarket into one really nice looking single din plate.

there 2 oem faceplates.
1st is what i have. I have no idea what this faceplate is for, i'm sure it wasn't made to satisfy some people's need for aftermarket navi but nevertherless there ya have it
2nd is for oem navigation which is wider then standart aftermarket thus being useless for those with aftermarket ones.

Another difference between the 2 is that 1st is for "manual" AC contols while second only fits "digital" ones as they are not the same exact shape.
