Smile Is driving with blown PS Pump dangerous?

My power steering pump failed on my 95 altima but I have no problem using manuel steering mode but I was told that the fluid acts as a lubricant for the steering gear and If I run the car with no PS the gear can seize due to lack of lubrication. If the steering gear seizes, the steering could become suddenly locked in whatever position it is in at the time.

My question on my 1995 Altima:

I here on some power steering systems fluid is pushed to a hydraulic cylinder attached to the steering linkage which has its own separate supply of lubricant

Q: Does my 95 Altima have this type of set-up and if so is there any need to worry about a steering lockup and just keep driving with no power steering?

thank you in advance for any input/direction to go in.
