Question ECU mods or plug-in tuners

Anyone know a good way to upgrade the ECU or a good plug-in tuner for an 05' VQ35DE V6? I would perfer a plug-in, but am open to suggestions. I only have light mods so far- CAI and cat-backs. Bully Dog has a plug-in, but not sure if it is worth the $400. Looking for experience with this topic.

Technosquare will reflash your ECU for $500. I haven't done it yet. Everytime I get close, I end up buying something else. Plus, the downside is you have to send your ECU to them. BUT - everyone who has had it done says they regret not doing it sooner. Technosquare:

Raises your redline
Deletes your speed limiter
Remaps your fuel

Default Ecu

I've seen their web page and read good things about Technosquare. I'm not thrilled about sending my ECU away. I wonder if the Bullydog Power Pup would work as well as a plug-in?

I have heard the exhaust sensors can trip using a racepipe. How much does it gain you compared with CAI or similar upgrade. I am leaning towards a UD pulley for the low cost and good reviews on the gains they give. Lots of mod'ers use them, so they must be OK.

That's another thing that keeps me from doing it. If I had a spare ECU, I'd do it. I'm not familiar with the Bullydog set up.

Some pipes can, but I think that's more towards the header side. Racingline's Y has a spot for the sensor, so it runs just like factory. The pipe gives you 12 or 13 compared to the 2-3 with a free flowing intake. I think the Altimas were designed to suck in air fairly free, but when it comes to exhaust, they're pretty constipated.

As far as the UD pulley, a buddy has one and wishes he wouldn't have wasted his money on it. He said the gains are minimal for the investment. I'm not sure though. He has an 03 auto and I'm in an 05 auto and he's slightly quicker...Even with that 4AT.

Seems like the pulley helped him more than he knows! I guess you have to know how the cars are modded to really compare... For $150 I think it takes 6 pounds off the engine mass (faster winding up) and draws less power off to run the accessories. Might even save some gas, who knows! I think its not a seat-of-the-pants feeling because its accross the whole power range, so they don't think it works so well.

Just so you guys know, Technosquare will not do Autos. For tuning, our only "real" option is something like an Apexi VAFC, or if you have the funds and are serious about tuning, go for the Greddy E-manage Ultimate and buy the 350z Harness(same as ours) and go to a professional to get her tuned right.

He's running with a short throw kit, CAI, has an SER RSB in his trunk waiting to be installed, lowered on prokits and I'm trying to talk him into cutting his mufflers off...

Are you sure? I thought the thread over at NC cleared that up...But I was too lazy to read the whole thing. Might have been carlson_mn's group buy thread.

UpRev - Osisris Tuner looks like the easiest way to go and they have tuners all over the place.
