Default Gas Mileage

Having to do a lot of traveling throughout the year, I was wondering what the around town and the freeway mileage on the Altima are? If you have one and can tell me your average along with distance I would greatly appreciate it. I need to make sure that the car that I get has a relatively good gas mileage because of the traveling I do.

Well, I own an 07' Altima and I can get roughly 500 miles to 1 full tank (20 gal).

Of course, with the 2.5l 4cyl engine and CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).

The mileage that you mentioned is this around town or freeway mileage. I know that they are making cars that are much more fuel efficient. So I wanted to know that as well.

26 city 35 highway. That's the estimate anyway. Of course your tire pressure, shifting skills, and proper maintenance will have a lot to do with it.

A little mix of both, but more Highway.

United Breaks- Is that an automatic or manual transmission?

I'm glad people are starting to look at their fuel economy when buying a car. I made a choice to have a smaller car because I didn't want to be spending most of my paycheck on gas but my prices still go up if everyone else decides they want the H2's.

missywins:

I'd never own a H2. Gas mileage is terrible!

One of the top reasons why I purchased my Altima was fuel economy. After I purchased it, Hybrid models came out.

UnitedBreaks:

Yeah, I get around the same MPG as you do. I love it.

It's a "6-speed" automatic (CVT) transmission.

It uses a kevlar belt and 2 pulley-like devices (the gears are virtual). It tightens and loosens as you drive faster/slower. Therefore, no "shift-shock" (shiftless) and better MPG.

Until the hybrids come down in price the best option for someone wanting to not go broke driving the Altima is the way to go. I just saw it on a list of top ten most fuel friendly cars that my local paper ran.

I agree that the H2 is just a mess. I am not someone to judge people based on their cars but I don't think I could ever date someone who drove a massive SUV unless they were a farmer or had a job where they needed it. They just make it seem like people are overcompensating for something.

The Hybrid is getting good reviews and most importanlty from owners rather from Journo's and from a cost standpint the higher gas prices go the better your investment right?

I would think it will vary with conditions.

I have heard good things about hybrids in reference to mileage.

You speak of hybrids, Nissan has a hybrid out? I have not seen it. I was comparing hybrids cars, to see about gas mileage and I didn't come across any for this brand. Can someone point me to it so I can do the research.

Wow! This is way better gas mileage than my Oldsmobile! Maybe I really should trade it in!
