Default Gas Millage for 2012 2.5S

I have seen different post where people were complaining about the MPG'S . I drive mostly rural and 2 lane highways going to and from work and have averaged around 29 MPG with a average speed of around 30. I have 4000 miles on the vehicle and yesterday was the first time I have been able to see how it did with just freeway miles. I drove 180 miles with cruse set just below 70 and netted 38.5 MPG with a average speed of 69.5. For what it is worth outside temp was around 35. I did have the auto temp on with AC on. Need less to say I was quite happy. With millage like that who needs a hybrid.

you'll definitely see a little more incrase in fuel economy with an aftermarket intake such as Injen or K&N or takeda.

Now just for a deeper growl, you can try the free DIY warm intake in the sticky section of the intake/exhaust thread. It simply involves removing the factory air scoop and either leaving the oem paper drop in filter or using a K&N drop in filter. when you floor it, it'll give a deeper growl.

Funny though is that when I did this for a few hundred miles, a K&N drop in filter with the factory air scoop removed gave a nice deep growl tone. When I put on the takeda intake, it gave a raspier growl, but after getting used to this growl, my mpg increased by about 1-3 for both city and highway. I imagine it'll go back down when I put on axleback mufflers!!

When I first got my 2012 2.5 i was heavy on the gas to get used to the new transmission. I noticed my gas mileage was around 19 for a 30 mile mostly highway commute. I typically would bring it to 4000 rpm and race around. After reading your post I tried to keep rpm at 2000 or lower and I went right up to 32 mpg for the same commute. I was able to keep up with traffic and go around 70 or so on the highway. I guess it all depends on how you drive.

I find I get the best millage when I can set the cruise. Even at 70 with the cruise on the tach is usually below 2000. There are times I switch over to the manual shift mode and the MPG goes down. I drive 95% of the time with the transmission set in the auto mode.

There is a definite break-in period for fuel economy. When my 2011 Alitima S Coupe was brand-new, I struggled to get 20 on the highway -- being as light as possible with the throttle. Now I can get 30 MPG if I'm not heavy-footed. Hopefully it continues to improve. I'm at 5500 miles, currently.
