That is a nice looking pup, congratulations! Pits get a lot of bad publicity but in my experience, it's all in how you raise them and care for them. As the owner of a pit, my advice is; keep him socialized and playful while he's young, don't cut his ears, and give him chew toys or he will find them on his own. The roots of the breed are known to be one of the most loyal and people friendly breeds established. It's idiot owners that have ruined the reputation.
As for real names, I like Gus, Otis, Rufus,
good nicknames I've used are meathead, beefcake...
