i notice my car hesitates whenever i try to apply more power through the gas pedal. i usually need more power when going up a steep hill or incline or a semi steep incline. any body know why. also it can be sluggish sometimes when on the highway. as in it takes a while to reach a certain speed as opposed to my friends much new car. which seems to blow by with such a breeze, i know the obvious fact- because his car is new.

but it bugs me , why my '95 Nissan altima seems to hesitate.

also i was told my a car at AAA shop that my car makes a lot of noise.

i have noticed sometimes i hear a rattling noise, but i found out it was caused by my hood. but besides the hood the noise is still persistent. i also noticed that when my car is a little warm, it goes into this weird quiet mode. i'm guessing that's idle. but this happens sometimes not all the time

any suggestions / solutions would be helpful.

can you be more specific about the quality of the noise it makes? Maybe even make a recording if you can, one from inside the car (if the noise is audible), and one from outside the car. It would help others to make a guess at what might be going on.

You may wants to check the motor mounts or the covers inside where the front wheels are at. But most likely it might be your motor mounts
