hey guys, im new to tuning up cars, but i was just wondering. if i were to get a regular JDM cold air intake for my car, but change the filter to a K&N filter. would that be the same if i were just getting a whole K&N Cold Air intake? does the piping make a difference??

It would be pretty much the same. Intake companies perform R&D with tubing (bends, material, etc) to maximize the airflow but it would be damn close.

Thats exactly what I did with my 03 2.5, I bought a ebay cold air and then bought a k&n filter from autozone. the filter even came with decals that i put on the intake. My friend has a real K&N intake and you CANNOT tell the difference, mine is actually better looking because of the color. Oh and I paid about $120 less than he did!!!
