Default iPhone iOS 4 kills Bose radios?

Test driving a 2010 Altima 2.5S with the premium audio package ([Digital Bose® audio system with AM/FM/CD and 4.3" color display and USB connectivity (iPod®-compatible)] my wife and I noticed something odd. Her iPhone 3GS with version 3.2.1 of iOS could be controlled from the Bose head unit via the USB connection. But my iPhone 3G that had just been upgraded to iOS version 4.0.1 only displayed a [1] on the display.

The Altima is our top choice right now and we really like the iPhone integration with the premium Bose radio (both USB for music and BlueTooth for phone). But we'd hate to find out after buying that the system isn't being kept up to date and becomes incompatible!

Does anyone have this audio setup or know where to look for more information? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I've got a 2010 coupe 3.5 and have been using my iPhone to listen to music through USB, up until I upgraded to the latest iPhone software. Now I get choppy music and sometimes no music or the "1" you describe. It pisses me off, my friends iPod touch works just fine ... I'd like to not have to purchase another iPod when I've already got my iPhone. Hopefully a later release of Apple's software will fix (whatever) problems they may have caused.

So we went ahead and bought the Altima. My wife loves it.

Luckily, I was able to get the iPhone working again by doing a restore on it in iTunes. This wipes the memory, reinstalls the latest OS and syncs back apps, music and such from the computer. It also fixed my Bose radio connectivity glitch.
