Default Just bought a brand new 2009 Altima and it has been scratched up.....ALOT

Hi, I just purchased a 2009 Altima with 5 miles......Well, while we were signing paperwork to take the car, they were cleaning it and as my luck has it, the buffer scratched it up BIG TIME......

I actually did not notice until I left the lot, it was near dark.....But hubby and I stopped by Burger King, so he could get food, immediately after we left the NISSAN dealership.....He was on his bike, so I followed him and when he went inside to get his food, I got out of my new car to take a look around it and found scratched everywhere......I immediately called NISSAN and they said bring it back tomorrow.

I took it back, they actually still have it.....They tried to buff the scratched out, and then brought the car to me and I noticed the scratches were still there, so I called them and took it back.....They took it to another shop that was suppose to be able to get the scratches out and he said he wouldn't mess with it because they were deeper than they looked....He said if you take your fingernail sideways, you can feel they are in the paint, and that he could not do more than the factory originally did (Which did NOT work)

Anyways, the dealership sent it to their corporate office and told me it would probably have to be re-painted....I was okay with that, BUT NOW, they tell me they should be able to fix the scratched, without painting it....

My main concern is HOW will they do this since the scratches are in the clear coat, paint and will the areas that they are "fixing" mess up in a few years from now???? (Fade, etc.)

I really am in a jam and don't know what to do......

Can you guys give me your opinion?

Any help/suggestions?

Should I demand another vehicle, or that they re-paint it?

I am mainly concerned that if they "fix" the scratches, by buffing them out, even more than has already been done, that I will have problems with the paint in a few years.....They are ony offering a 5 year warranty on their work, unless they re-paint it.....re-painting would be a lifetime warranty...

I would look around the lot for something else hell I wouldn't want a brand new car that already had to have a new paint job. That's just me

Take it back and make them give you a new car. You typically have a 3 day period to cancel the contract (even if they say you can't... you can.) Get an attorney involved if they won't give you a new car. You paid for a NEW car (not a repainted one) and that's what you should get.

Get full coverage and get someone to steal it and burn it to ground. Claim stolen car on insurance. Insurance gives u new car. BINGO problem fixed

Yep. I agree with all, get a new one. If there isnt one on the lot that you want, then just get it painted. Fresh paint job wont hurt.
