I believe it means it's locked? Can anyone confirm this?

First of all, congrats on the new car. I have the 08 Altima and love it, except for the annoying factory NAV...

Anyway, there are 2 key icons on your dash. One say "KEY" with a little key icon and is (I think) amber colored. This is a warning light for the intelligent key fob. If there is a problem it will stay on until you turn your car on, then it will go out after a couple seconds. I guess it figures that if you can still start your car it's not a big deal, haha.

It likely just means the battery in your fob is low and needs to be replaced. I just replaced mine recently for the same reason. You can pop it open pretty easily and switch out the battery. It's a standard button battery, so just take the old one into the store with you and match up the numbers. If a new battery doesn't make the light go away, you may have to have the dealer look at it.

The other is a car with a key silhouette in the middle and is red. This is the security indicator. If your car is locked, it stays on. If your car is unlocked, and the ignition is off, it will blink. If your car is running it will be off.

Hope that helps!

Replace the battery. I popped it open easy to change the battery and u can get it for like $2 on ebay. My fob stopped unlocking my car manually and i could only set the panic from like 6 feet away once i replaced it I was able to set off my panic button from my bedroom and im on the 7th floor of my building....Totally worth it

Btw i set the panic button on anyone who dares lean on my car lol

Bought 8 batteries on a card at IKEA for 99 cents. (13 cents each)
Battery size is CR2032, same as original Nissan.
(Owner's manual says CS2032, I think.)

item # 601.071.30
in stores only (lighting dept.)
not online
