Default Modify stock '05-'06 stereo w/3.5mm AUX to preamp??

Has anyone performed a mod on a 2005-06 non-Bose stock head unit to tie in a 3.5mm audio jack as an AUX connection?

I'm asking because there's an eBay listing for a radio modified in this way. The listing seems sketchy, and I never knew this mod was possible. Seems to me this could damage/kill the unit.

I can't post a link since I'm a new user, so please search for eBay item #280741449658 to see what I'm talking about.

Can this be legit?

It is possible to mod that piece to accept the AUX input but I'm not sure how they did theirs. The method I know of uses the CD lines to get the AUX signal into the HU. For $135 it could be worth not having to open up the box, cut the traces, solder the connections and mount the jack. But on the other hand, how guaranteed is it to work? And to work for how long? I really like how they mounted the jack right on the face. The other mod has a jack mounted down on the panel below the lower cubby.

If you want the instructions to try your own mod (won't cost you $135, but you'll have to be comfortable soldering), PM me your email and I'll send it your way.

I think that's only up to the 04. The 05-06 non-Bose models don't have the 8-pin plug.
