Default More Horsepower please =)

So I got a 05 Altima SL 4 banger from my dad becuase he doesnt like me offroading with the family truck. so,

I already ordered a K&N Cold air Intake and a Magnaflow Exhaust.

Im just wondering what else I can do to get horsepower out of the car, short of an engine swap and dropping in a turbo.

I know nothing about cars really, But all my buddies are gear heads and are helping me install this stuff.

But yea, I was just wondering what else to do to get more power.

Thanks for the help!

With the intake, you will only notice a difference in the sound of acceleration, a slight increase in power (not enough to tell really).

You won't get any noticable hp unless you do a major overhaul and install high performance parts and have the head and block work done.

Slap a turbo on and call it a day. Most bolt-ons don't yield any noticeable gains.

Yes, intake and exhaust only assist in giving noticable HP when they are complimented by forced induction.

Actually depending on which intake you get, it can increase your hp pretty greatly. The really good thing about an after market intake is that you'll never have to change it.

So, would the nismo cams Im looking at for my car be a good thing to boost the horsepower?

O, and Iv been looking for underdrive pulleys but i cant find them. Do any of you know a good site or catalog to order parts from. No one really has alot of stuff for the altima, and its getting kinda annoying having to search all this different crap and I still cant find what I need.

And do they sell Superchargers for Altimas? I think id rather have a supercharger than a turbo.

Not true I got a 20whp gain from just an exhaust, intake and SSIM granted thats in an 02 Maxima but still the stock intake and exhaust are very restrictive. The stock exhaust is crush bent and has many restrictive bends and kinks that kill power. Any aftermarket exhaust thats mandrel bent will definatly produce noticable gains over stock. Same thing with the intake it makes three 90 degree bends before entering the throtle body so any intake will help it flow better producing more power.

ballance shaft removal is a good one. header does a difference. cams. if your looking for pullys look for the sentra 2.5l ones. i got one. i could tell it liked to rev more but not much of a diff. is it a manual. cuz if you get rid of that 45lb flywheel and get the 12lb jim wolf one that will help. other than that its forced induction.... sorry not much out there for the qr25

wow i'm surprised you guys said forced induction.
from my understanding boosting a 2.5 in an altima with a horrible transmission is a waste of money. but i suppose if you're loaded and have money to blow why not. there was a 2.5 liter boosted altima that was rated at 230+? about the same as a V6. and with the money one spent on the engine with all of its work/ labor/ parts, it could be saved, the car traded and an even bigger down payment on a nicer altima like the SE or SE-R.

IMHO i would just go with the basic mods, such as intake/header/exhaust, cams, the balance shaft remover that was mentioned above. and your set. if you're really hardcore into your QR, get a technosquare ECU reflash. it costs about 450$ i'm not sure but upwards of that price. with the cams and a few internals the QR can redline at 7 or 7 1/4 with the ECU reflash.
enough horsepower to get you going. you don't need to speed. especially in our 4 banger grocery getter.

with all the money above it comes down to close to 2k.

if you want speed get the v6. unless you like the QR that much.

If you want real horsepower then bolt ons will not really be worth it. Its a lot of money for a little bit of bang
