Default Need Advice

Hey guys, hows it goin?!

I got a dilemma going on here.. Im intersted in purchasing a second car, and that would be the 2005 Nissan Altima SE-R in Manual .. now I had a couple concerns with the car and just overall questions ..

1) It was brought to my attention that it requires +91 octane gas? Is it necessary or can it run on regular?

2) Hows the car overall? The acceleration, how quick is it around the corners? (It IS an SE-R, which only means that its gonna be driven LIKE an SE-R is supposed to be driven =p)

Hope you guys can help me out in purchasing my new car. Really looking forward to it but im questioning all odds. Hope someone can get back to me. Thanks!

1. The car says to use 91 octane for best performance. My wife filled mine with regular the first time she took it. I was most displeased, but it ran just fine. My guess is that the computer recognizes the difference with the o2 sensors, knock sensors, etc. and just changes the ignition timing. It loses performance, but keeping you from burning a hole in one of the pistons.

2. I have been very pleased with the handling of my 06 SE-R. It does a great job around town, and in high speed corners. It has a stiffer suspension and better sway bars etc. than the 3.5 SE.

When shopping for cars, I drove a WRX and a few others. I ended up with the SE-R and could not be happier. It is a fun car, and most people do not recognize it as something that's fast... for a sedan.

I'm with Matt...high octane recommended, but not required. My car never sees regular unless I'm going to burn through the entire tank on the highway.
Overall, the SER is a great car. Between the SE & SE-R, handling is the biggest difference. Off the line, both offer the gigantic Nissan front wheel gap and are externally very similar. It's easy to pick out the front bumper dif, but not as many people notice the difference in rear bumper. Black chrome is nice as well, instead of the regualar chrome on non-SER models. Performancewise, the 10 extra hp don't really give much to the SER. They should've made it at least 20 higher. But the transmission is better than mine. Although I have an auto...

In all, you'll be happy!

the guys from my dealer put 87 in mine, i immediately ran that tank out and filled it with 93 and it runs a whole lot smoother. i dig it, and it gets okay mpg's so far so i can live with the 93.

1. 91 is required as long as you love the car and will make it faster
2. the SE-R is really fast. number said 0-60 is 6.1 but my car is faster than a G35. for cornering you have to lower the car becoz the oem is too high but firm

1. Not required, just recommended. I love my car and it occasionally is fed 89 with no significant performance difference.

2. Maybe a G35x...But not a G coupe unless you've modded it.

Always 91 or even 94 for me. I love it too much to give it any less.

I dont know much about the SER's but performance wise, i think youd be pleased.

i raced a SER with my then stock srt4 back in 05. from a dig he jumped about a car. i closed the gap to about half a car all the way to about 120. i ran a 14.2 in the quarter all stock. so it would be safe to say it would do about the same.

I know you asked about cornering, so im pretty sure it would mostly handle real good..

Thats a signature. you can edit your signature in your profile. do it just like you would when posting a pic. get a pic and post the IMG code from what ever photo hosting site you have your photos in (photobucket, picpile, flickr, etc). they cant be that big though. so you might have to resize them.
