Just beneath the a/c control, reach under the plastic cover (woodgrain or stainless, depending on your model) and pull forward. The cover that goes over the 3 a/c knobs comes off with a good tug. After that comes off, there are 4 phillips head screws that hold the ac controls in place. Remove them. Then pull on the a/c controls, but don't unplug them and you will see the other screws to remove. The rest is just phillips head work. It should fit right in if it's a double din.

To anyone else reading this, the comment above about not unplugging the AC controls is good, but more important, don't unplug the passenger airbag indicator light. If you turn the ignition on and this is unplugged, the "idiot" light will come on and you'll have to get someone to clear the code. Experience is the best teacher... d'oH!

Does anyone know where a tutorial on installing a double din unit is? Im just interested on how the actual install is before I go and spend the money (wiring old wires to new head unit). Is it plug and play? If someone could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks

So how did your install go? I am just about to put in a pioneer ACH-4200DVD and the Bluetooth adapter to my 3.5 SE Altima with Bose. Just wanted to know if there were any other pitfalls you experienced. Thanks for starting this thread.

You will have no problems with the airbag light and disconnecting the plug as long as you disconnect the negative battery terminal BEFORE you start. After you are done installing everything than reinstall the terminal to the battery. Been doing this for years no worried or troubles.

Just do not "test" the head unit while the air bag light is disconnected.

resetting the nissan airbag indicator is relatively simple if it DOES happen though, so nobody should wet their pants over it.

#1. ign on, wait till air bag indicator disappears, turn off ignition.

#2. repeat step one two more times

#3. start the car, airbag light will flash slowly indicating the SRS system is in diagnostic mode

#4. turn off the car and start it again. light gone.

saves $90, what they charge at the stealership.

but yes, i agree the plug shouldn't be out if you're going to test the unit, or as fanatic suggested, (what you're supposed to do on any install) disconnect the battery terminal.
