Default New Ground on Factory Head Unit

All,

I have a 2010 2.5 S that has a brand new 5 channel kicker amp that is now powering interior speakers and a jl sub. Everything is hooked up fine and sounds awesome. Only issue is I have a little bit of engine whine through the speakers. Talking with a local audio shop they informed me that it is definitely a grounding issue and with most all nissans the factory head unit ground is pretty much junk and I should run my own. This should eliminate the problem. My question is this. Which wire is actually the factory head unit ground? I have a factory (non-bose) head unit.

I do have the Detailed manual with wiring schematic. I just don't know which wire acts as the current ground.

any thoughts?

Thanks!

Any feedback anyone?

I pulled the radio out today. Here is the audio connector that contains antenna wires. I believe the smaller one is the ground. The manual doesn't specify. wtf.

here is the connector info from the manual:

So, is pin 77 a ground? there is definitely a wire coming out and this connector has to supply a ground in some fashion cause when i unplug it the radio quits working.

I like to run a ground wire directly from the chassis of the head unit to a screw on the car's frame. There's usually a srew somewhere on the radio you can use; I like to use open ended spade terminals so I don't have to remove the screw completely (who knows what it's securing!). Then I'll use a pull-apart connector in the middle to make future removals easier. Just my $.02.

no ground in the harness bro. the radio chassis is mounted to iso brackets that are mounted to brackets originating from the frame of the car. That's how the factory radio gets its ground.

but yes, like bo said, upgrade the ground.

Also,

Where is your line out converter(s)?

As the others have said there is no ground in the factory harness.

However if you are using the stock bracket and it is metal you could attach your ground wire to that metal and therefore it will ground when you re install the head unit.

However that is not my cup of tea, as the others have said run a new ground using at leas 14 gauge wire for a good strong connection.
