Default New to Nissan

I took a leap of faith on purchased a 1996 Altima 5spd.

It had a lot wrong with it; body damage, weird clicking noise when car warmed up(timing chain tensioner I think), rust, needs tires, some sensors are bad.

I got it for 750 so I didn't think it was too bad for a running vehicle.

looking forward to learning about this engine and the rest of the vehicle, as well as getting to know you guys

Welcome to AF, Challenger! Great deal on a 96', they are reliable cars. How many miles are on it? Post some pictures up when you can too.

Yeah it was pretty good deal I think, just waiting till monday to be able to register it, so I can drive it. its got almost 170k on it. I plan on switching it over to synthetic oil when i get some cash to change the fluids.

It says 5 posts or more for pictures so I will see what I can do. haha

Welcome to the forum. That's not a bad price at all. It's got less miles than my 05 Altima at least haha. Sometimes isn't good to switch to synthetic when your car has that many miles. I'd try a synthetic blend

Alright I will put some synthetic blend into it then when I do an oil change. Do you suggest I should drain and fill the gear fluid or no? I haven't got a chance to look at it, but is the 5 spd cable or hydraulic?
