Default New owner, looking to have some fun

yeah I know the thread title is misleading, but you looked right?

2011 Altima Hybrid in Metallic Slate with the Convenience package.

I think the first thing will be adding the fog lights, that almost goes without question.

Maybe next will be a grill replacement.

My question is, is there anywhere you would suggest other than eBay? Any brands better than others? I'll search the 4.5G forums but is there a step by step guide to doing any of these things? If I know one thing about car forums there's always something like that.

Also, are there any known performance mods (preferably simple, like air filter replacements, etc) that can increase the fun factor at all?

Doesn't look like there are many Hybrid owners on here, but maybe I can be the first.

try andy's autosports for brand name parts. Ebay if you want to pay more later for getting crappy parts although some parts are ideal such as getting a Short ram intake.

http://www.andysautosport.com/nissan/2007_9999_altima/

If you're on a budget, get a no name intake for the piping, but then go with a brand name filter such as Injen or K&N or Takeda or Fujita. It's the quality of the filter that makes the difference. The piping is all the same...doesn't matter if it's an Injen or Fujita tube and the larger the tube won't make a difference.

Fun factor for you would probably be short ram intake and exhaust...either cat back or axle back

since you have a hybrid, I'd probably also suggest adding a grounding kit as I don't know the ins and outs of adding light or audio mods when dealing with hybrid fuel cells or not sure how it would affect the performance of those cells. Maybe they might run off the regular car battery as I know it first uses the regular car battery to start, but then runs off the hybrid cells when in motion.

I like the billet grill, not quite sure how the CF grille they have at Andy's would look all that good on my car but I will think about it. I probably won't do an exhaust at least for a while and just giving a quick look to the engine compartment I'm not sure a CAI will even be possible. Thanks for the links though, keep bouncing ideas out there!

for the 07+ altimas, the short ram intake is the only intake mod as Nissan moved the fuse box and made it bigger so it blocks the possibility of running a long pipe for a cold air intake mod. Some of the short ram intakes have heat shields like the K&N or Injen. My Takeda doesn't have one but it adds a 45 degree elbow onto the factory air scoop. The 3.5 model Takeda actually has a heat shield.

Yeah but have you seen the engine compartment of a hybrid? I am not sure there is room for even a ram intake (i remember them being called pop chargers years ago).

I think the Takeda SRI would fit, but if not, definitey the Stillen since it's shorter in length than the Takeda.

some guys here have said it's so clean! Well it's a slightly used 09 which I got in January of this year, so it must have been steam cleaned before I bought it. But give it another year or so and it'll accumulate more dirt! I have been inclined to maybe do a steam clean at least once a year or at least just try to dry clean certain areas myself...

Just looking at it tells me that the Takeda you have will not fit, the big silver Hybrid system component that sits where your battery does is much bigger than a normal car battery.

you might want to look at the stillen which i think has a shorter piping.

Or you can try putting in a K&N drop in filter and carving out a rectangular hole to the right of where the factory air scoop connects to. I've seen a guy on youtube do that and I was considering in doing that to my factory air box until I saw the Takeda on sale on amazon for $178. But if you carve out a rectangular hole to the right of the factory air scoop connection, that would allow more air into your altima as well as the cold air coming from the air scoop

I looked at Amazon just now and it says the Stillen kit 69-7061TS kit will fit my car (doesn't list any Takeda kits btw). I'll have to look around to see if I can do better than $231. I put a similar intake in my 1998 Infiniti I30 and it was extremely easy to remove the air box and install the cone filter. I'm not big on the idea of modifying the existing airbox, that way I can just put the old one back if I want to trade it in.

I'd be really curious to see if anyone has done any mods to a Hybrid and what the noticeable difference was. I doubt there are many hybrid modders out there.

yeah I don't think they want to mess with the ECU or altering the functionality of the fuel cells.
