Hello all. I just purchased a 2008 Nissan Altima coupe for my son-in-law who is now a sophomore in college.

We changed the oil before embarking on the long trip to drop him off at school. When we reached our desination, the car started acting strange. Here are the symptoms: At the stop light, the car shut off, but started right back with no problem. However, when we accelerated, the car hesitated, then lurched forward then shut off again. The car will start right back up no problem, but everytime the car is put in drive, it either shuts off, or lurches foward then shuts off.
We can get the car going if you gas it and take off running, but as soon as we come to a stop, shuts off again.
We checked the (CVT) trans fulid and it seemed a bit low. We added a quart of the stuff from the dealer ($20 a quart). It seemed to help a little bit. Instead of shutting off immediately after coming to a stop, the car will idle in drive, but still shut off as soon as you give it gas.

Is ther a limp mode enabled? is ther anything I can do or check before taking it to the stealership?

maybe check the battery negative and positive terminal connections to make sure their tight. Other than that, it sounds more like something to do with the cvt. You filling it up to a certain level seemed to have an effect on it
