Default Nissan Altima 2.5s CVT M-Mode. Fun. :]

Hey Everyone, I know we all have a taste for speed in some point in our life, or perhaps during a slow morning commute on the highway to work. But alot of Altima Drivers who own the CVT model had never tried the M - Mode.

Honestly some people say that it doesnt help the MPG, Yea i know but its for the Quick Rpm Revs and shifting feeling :] and Also you don't hear your car Resonating like crap under 3k lol.

So i decided, lets drive for a Week using Manual Mode :]

To shift in CVT mode, u lift your foot off the gas, press the shifter head forward once, and reapply Gas. Easy as that :]

in Areas with 35mph as speed limits, i usually just shift at 2500-3000 rpm
in Areas with 45mph as speed limits, i usually just shift at 3500-4500 rpm
on Highways, Usually when i get off the Ramp and onto the main Highway, i tend to climb the Rpm all the way to -5900rpm and shift it sounds so great.

Honestly if you try to do a pull from 1st and shift at 5900rpm ull be at around 45-49mph already. :]

Downshifting is very easy, as you want to downshift at a low Rpm. 2k rpm.
But in CVT, Downshifting in 2500-3000rpm is normal.

M - mode is much faster then D - mode. Theres also the fun Street sound from your car :]

So tell me, have you used the M - Mode, and how do you use it? :]

It's actually been proven at the track that D is faster. The computer is smarter then the driver apparently. The most skilled M mode driver would shift at the same appropriate time, making as fast, not faster.

I still haven't fiddled with mine...I assume it just makes you feel like YOU'RE in control and think that you can be faster than the computer!! I was told by the dealer that if you don't upshift or downshift, the computer ends up doing it anyways!

well I tried it out a few days ago. I think it just makes it fun to feel like you can upshift/downshift and not have your auto tranny look like a boring stick.

I use my m mode all the time.It hits nice when you stay in the throttle.Almost like having a sequential gear box.So i can play Indy racer! Anybody gotten there car in a 4 wheel drift yet? Now thats where the m mode comes in handy

I've also played around with the camber in the front and rear and got this thing handling real nice.Factory spec's are for the granny's we see driving these things.Think outside the box and you'll be amazed of what these cars can do.
