Default oil pan has a crack in it!

Driving my 1996 Altima GXE yesterday with all the snow melting makes for some difficult driving here in the Northeast
Anyway driving through what i though was some soft snow was a big pothole just about a couple of minutes from my house!
The car took a bad dip and made a horrible scraping sound
i continued driving and less than 2 minutes later the yellow engine service light comes on ,
Ten seconds later it startr blinking fast and right after that the red oil light comes on as i pull up in front of my house
I notice oil pissing out of the front of my oil pan with a long trail behind me
I turn off the car check the oil dipostick level and its non existant

Theres a small gash in the oil pan and it wont hold oil

Can i epoxy this?
If so what type should i use
If not is it complicated to change the entire oil pan myself?

Get yourself a new oil pan. It will save you a lot of headache. While it is not difficult to change the oil pan yourself, it can be tricky making sure that it does not leak. A lot of mechanic's will use the proper oil pan gasket as well as RTV to make sure there is no leak anywhere.

well, i know an oil pan through nissan is about $100 and an aftermarket one on ebay is the same. but if your looking for a GREAT sealant i would have to say nissan's gray stuff thats comes in a short fat tube with Nissan down the side of it. that is the best stuff i have ever used besides honda bond! itll probably run you about 10 bucks and can do five oil pans. not like you should need that much though.

With all this snow were getting here in New York i havent been able to get this thing fixed
But im not asking about a sealant i meant soemthing to fill in the hole so it doesnt leak without taking off the oil pan
I know a complete oil pan is the best thing to do
But i looked at it underneath and it looks lik e its a big job
Theres so much stuff in the way
I thinkl i would have to raise the enigne assembly to with a lift
Thats why im looking for an epoxy to fill the hole
Im going to Autozone to see if theres anything there
Walking to autozone that is!

You should be able to get a two part epoxy from auto zone that will fill the void. This should only be used as a temporary fix to drive your car to a mechanic. Imagine how screwed you'll be when the epoxy fails in the middle of nowhere on sub zero night.

I agree with mikejamesbyma, I'd just buy a new pan. It's not worth the risk to drive on a patch.
