The Altima would have saved me from going through the head ache of waiting in a large warehouse with a hurricane coming and plastic and tape holding my window together.
A horrid experience!
I had a full-dress Cadilac with automatic headlights, automatic mirror dimming, automatic windshield wipers, a trunk that you just moved the lid CLOSE to the bottom and the latch would grab it and move it down into a secure seal -
But you could STILL lock your keys in the car or trunk - -

Nissan is FANTASTIC with their attention to detail like this!
And that is why I was so surprised to see them go to a convex key shape that causes the keys to protrude above the surface of the fob -

I guess the advantage is that you don't have to pull the fob out of your pocket to start the car. I don't know know what the other advantages are???

Since I am car shopping, I am seeing this on alot of cars now. On some cars you don't have to pull the fob out of your pocket to unlock the doors, I don't know if Altima's do this too??

John
more things is that you dont have to pull out the fob to unlock the door. all u have to do is press the request button

True - you don't HAVE to use the fob for anything; just having it in your pocket allows you to lock, unlock, open trunk, and start engine.

But the drawback with doing it that way is that you may forget all about it. More than once, I have got in the car and pushed the button to start it, then sat there blankly wondering why it did not start. Then I remember that I do not have the fob in my pocket!

true.....i've forgotten it before. plus the push start is pretty reliable....but if you have the fob that is recalled....it may lose programming if you use your phone around it

I purchased an extra intelligent key off of ebay for under $30.00 for my 2009. You then have to take it to the dealer to have it programmed. If I remember they got me for $74.00 on that. Cheap insurance if you lose or misplace one.

The only issue with the push-button start that I have had was I had to have the switch under the brake pedal replaced this year. It was warranty work, so it didn't cost anything. Other than that I love the push button start.

yep it sure is! Of course now I get in the habit of making sure that keyfob is in my pocket before I exit the vehicle! But it's so convenient to just push that button on the handle outside when your hands are full of groceries!
