Default Question on new car care

I just purchased a 2010 altima. Lots of opinions out there. Should I just wash it regularly or add waxing in a few months. Also have heard to use Nu inish for Winter. Car dealearship tried to sell me the Xillion treatment for the paint and seats but I am pretty sure this is bogus as my wife bought a Toyota Corolla a year ago and it was nothing I could not do myself with wax and spray for the cloth seats. Just did not know with new car when I should add a coat of wax or NuFinish. Any info appreciated Thanks, Ronlennon

I would wax it when you take delivery and again before winter starts assuming you drive in snow. There is no wrong time to wax your car. The frequency depends on the quality of wax. If your car is clean and the water is not beading well then it's time to wax.

Congratulations on your purchase.

Wash it regularly, first and foremost.Second, always wax it well before winter and use under car washes after snow to get rid of the salt residue.Wax the door jams and clean the underside of the door,as you will get muck in the drainholes, which will lead to rust from the inside out.Use Zymol or McGuire waxes. And buy a good pair of shades, since you'll be blinded by the shine

I try to wash mine about once a week, I polish my wheels about once a month, and wax around the same time as an oil change (bout twice a year, usually early spring and late fall). There's really no wrong way to go about it. Once you do it for a while you'll start to get into your own routine.

I'd skip the regular wax and use a polish/sealant instead.

I've been using Zaino ever since I got my first new car. I love that stuff since it's easy to work with and doesn't leave white residue like regular wax.

be careful as you will get muck in the drainholes, which will lead to rust from the inside out so use some car care accessories to prevent this from happening.
