Default Rear View Mirror doesn't change

Hey gang,

New to the board and new to a 2008 coupe. My question is regarding the rear view mirror. This model has the ability for the mirror to reduce glare based on cars approaching from behind with their lights on. My issue is once the lights go away or even during the day, the mirror never brightens up, it's like it's always in anti-glare mode. If I turn off this feature using the button to the left of the compass button, it doesn't lighten up.

Seems like it's stuck in this mode and need some advise on how to get started.

Thanks in advance

Might be an internal fault in the mirror electronics. Have you unplugged the connector in the back to see if it changes anything?

So I just unplugged the mirror, no change, plugged it back in still no change.

So what's next?

I'd replace the mirror, unless you know how to diagnose electrical circuit board issues. Who knows, maybe the button just doesn't work, but I wouldn't be able to suggest a repair.

One day I've got to post a pic of what my mirror looks like. I think you guys will get a kick out of it.

I also wondered if they were fixable, but it's one project I prolly won't delve into.

I'm not really sure how it should look when it's working, do I can't help out much on this.

Hey everyone,

I just figured out the mirror is working. At night I can only see the 2 headlights from cars in behind, no outline of the actual car. If I put my finger over the sensor, after about 6-8 seconds I can then see the cars themselves. During the day, there is no noticeable difference if I cover the sensor or unplug it. Seems like it just doesn't change all that much which is why I didn't think it was working.

Thanks for the info
Rick

I thought safety devices were supposed to have 100K warranty....check with Nissan and be sure to mention that it's a safety issue.
