Default Rust on Rotors and Brake Clampers

Easiest way of getting rid of the rust? Good to paint with rust-free paint to prevent from rusting? How do I go about painting the brake clamps (is it just spray paint?)

I would also like to know this. I have rust building up on my rotors. Might buy some new ones

If you have rust on the hat of the rotor there is not a whole lot you can do about it. You can try using some high heat paint but that will only go so far before it rusts out. My experience has been that your rotors will warp before the rust becomes an issue. It just doesn't look all that nice.

If your going to paint your calipers just make sure it's high heat paint and clean them up as much as possible before you apply your paint. You'll find that you'll have to reapply the paint every year because of stone chips and weather wear. The other option is to leave them alone, they will be fine for years yet.

I've been told to just leave em alone, but they are so damn ugly! haha. I find the rust on the clamps and on the hat of my rotors are an eye sore up close...but its not noticeable far away. Guess I'll leave em alone for now and just buy new rotors and clamps after the stock ones wear out.

take a metal stripping brush and try to get any loose rust off,
spray the rotor and calipers with brake cleaner(strong stuff, so do this on the driveway or street), rinse off and let dry, then tape off the pad contact surface and primer the hat, and the caliper, then hit it with a couple light layers of high temp paint, i used black engine enamal. thats it! just make sure you dont get paint on the pad contact surface or inside the caliper. its been 2 years and it looks great for me

I cleaned mine with a wire brush, rinsed with brake cleaner and blasted them with regular Krylon. Didn't even tape because I figured the pads would rub off any excess paint...Which it did. That was a couple years ago and they still look great. My calipers...I think I just taped off the rubbers and blasted away again, after cleaning. Same thing. Even through Mn salty winters.
