Default Stalling/tranny issue........

First off, 05 auto SE R. On my way to work this morning, after about 5-10 miles, the car just died. I pulled over and it took a few tries but I got it to fire up. Then the only gear I had was 5th. It seemed lik I was riding a clutch I do not have. Flipped it to manual, it only showed 5th. No other option. The check engin light was on. At lunch I went out and checked it out. It fired right off, and the gears were all back. When I lieft work It fired no prob and drove just fine, til about the same distance, then all the same happened again. Does anyone have any idea what couldl be casuing this? It was raining this morning so I thought maybe something got wet, but not this afternoon. Oh, and the check engine light stays on. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Yup, it is, lol. Hopefully that solves your issue. There have been a few other not so inexpensive fixes for being stuck in fifth.

Yeah, but stalling out probably wasn't invilved either. I spend $3500 to get back overdrive in a 93 Thunderbird back in 96 or 97.

with that code, I have read where it is the front and I have read that it is the back cam that this sensor goes to. The O'Reilly's I went to assured it was teh front. I don't want to do the back if I don't have to, and I sure as hell don't wanna put the wrong one in the wrong place. Do you or anyone know for a fact which one throws the 0340 code?

Unfortunately, O'reilly's is confusing Bank 1 with 'front bank'. Bank 1 is firewall side, bank 2 is rad side.

Some reading...

I'm trying to solve this issue with my car right now also, I'll come back and post when I get it taken care of. I've tried to follow other threads with this same issue but haven't found a definite answer yet.

p.s. I'm also stalling out.

As per above post I was able to get O'Reilly's to swap out the one for the other. I put it in and it still did the same when up to running temp. SO, I am less $70 and back to square one.

New developement, it is giving me fits on cold start too. I think I cranked on itfor 10 minutes, when I was about to give up and prepare to call in to work tomorrow, it fired. So, I don't know.

Mine did this to the tranny guy, he just called out a couple of guys to push her and then she fired up.

For a couple of weeks but I have only replaced the bank 1 sensor so far and it didn't fix the problem for me. So, on with the investigation...

The above post seemed unrelated. What sensor did they replace?
