Default Starting issue

I own a 2006 Altima SE that has 132,000 miles on it and still performs like the day I drove it off the lot except for one thing. Starting has never been an issue, but lately on sporatic occasions it winds and winds and won't start unless i depress the gas pedal. I have never needed the gas pedal to start this car. My local mechanic thought the gas filter might be clogged but changing that didn't help it from occurring. I have notice no difference in mileage or performance at all. Any help or ideas???

Maybe spark plugs? How is your air filter? I would say that you might want to check your spark plugs more than your air filter but I have heard of certain cars having problems starting in the summer when it's hot because of a dirty air filter.

I would check these two things as they are relatively cheap to test (as opposed to maybe taking it to a mechanic or the dealership). Let me know if that helps any.

I was gonna change the plugs in my SE-R with higher performance plugs until I found out how difficult it was to get at the back one's. The front 3 aren't a problem but to get at the back 3 you have to take off the throttle assembly, the intake manifold, and probably drain the coolant while your at it. So I think I'll wait till she turns 100k till I change em like the manual says.

My '02 Sentra SER Spec V did the same exact thing. On occasion (season didn't seem to matter) it just wouldn't start up right away and I would have to push in the gas pedal a little bit...

Have you taken it to the dealer yet? I didn't find this to be too much of an annoyance but if it is for you, maybe give the dealer a call.

Oh, and does your Altima have the QR25DE engine (2.5L 4-cyl.) or is it the V6?
