Question Traction control and snow

Just took a short ride in the first snow, noticed that the traction control likes to step in a LOT. Is this normal? My fathers car I use to drive in the snow had 4 wheel drive so the traction control really did not step in much.

First car with front wheel drive with traction control. All my civics never had it.

Acceleration is done slower than normal.

Traction control will kick in as soon as it senses wheel slip, this can happen in cornering and under acceleration, you would be the judge as per your driving. So it is normal, I believe there is a switch to turn it off my car has one.

Yeah, the TC on these things is very sensitive. Even in the snow, I turn mine off. It's either slip until grip without TC on or don't slip because the TC won't let the wheel move because it senses slippage. Either way, if you want to get moving, it sucks, so I just let the tires spin until I reach pavement.

Just move to Southern Ontario. I don't think we're ever getting snow...

We finally got some cold last week and a bit of snow this weekend and this morning. I was certain that my tires were going to wear down to the rim with all of the 45+ temps we've had.

I have to turn it off when I find myself slipping going up a snowy hill... Once I get my traction back.. I turn it back on... That usually Helps

+ Having Real Snow Tires Help too...
Definitely recommend getting a set for the Winter...
