This is really weird, and I have never had a car that was like this, but when looking underneath your Altima, there are two what looks like frame extensions sticking out from behind the splash sheild. Looking at mine, the ears that extend down from the sides are bent outward and look pretty banged up. Are these there to protect the engine in the case of wacking a curb? Or are they supposed to be bent like that? I know this is weird and wish I had a photo...

If you are an auto, there is one, maybe two, What look to be scoops. Or something that you could use a shove of some sort. They catch air flow and direct it towards the transmission for cooling effects. Not sure if that is what you are talking about or not, but pictures help
