Why does the new Altima have a square on the front bumper? Whats it for?

Why don't other cars have it though? This and the Prius are the only cars that i've seen like that..

All cars with impact sensors have some kind of shape in the front and rear bumpers whether it be circles, squares, or rectangle. Maybe even ovals. lol

This gives you the best tow angle, allows the hook to be anchored to one of the most solid pieces of the car, and allows easy access.

If they had but the hook underneath, then the tow cable would have surely have creased or damaged the bumper. If the hook were behind the grill, you'd have to find a way to remove the grill when you needed to have your car towed.

Almost all European cars have this.

I think it is a good idea but there has to be a more hidden design.

The impact sensor is behind the grille mounted to the radiator support I believe.
