Default What would I need to throw on a Turbo?

I'm aware that a stock engine with no mods can't properly handle a turbo and I've heard many different things. I was just wondering what exactly do I need to make this happen and how much is it going to cost?

That's going to be a big transformation and money involved...
The computer will need to be reprogram to learn so many new devices that will be installed for this type of modification. An intercooler with its "charge pipes" (Turbo Pipes (boost)) system will need to installed first. I wouldn't know even where to start with a Non-Turbo car its a tremendous job.... Good luck!

Are you looking to more than 10 lbs of boost? If so then you will have to do head work and bottom work on your engine for it to be reliable (pistons, valves, port, etc..). But for the turbo you need turbo manifold, turbo, intercooler, piping, bigger fuel injectors, bigger fuel pump, something to do tuning, wastegate, bypass valve/blow off valve, better spark plugs, oil line, and little things like hoses, clamps, gaskets, etc.. I could be forgetting something but that's the majority of the things you'll need. And again the bottom end work and head work wouldn't really be need if you're going to stick with semi low boost.

Don't forget Tune.
Check for local tuners near your area.

honestly man why would u even want to turbo an altima? with all the money u will spend u could just buy a car that is already fast dont get me wrong i love my altima too. but regular bolt on mods and a tune r more than enuff to have some fun with it. its just a plain old waste of ur doe to do it period. with what ive got i have a good gain of HP and torque and i havent broken my bank.

I highly doubt he's gonna do it. He posted it at the beginning of December and hasn't posted since then.

I'd boost my car in a heartbeat if I had a spare $5k laying around. A force fed 5AT would be killer. But I'd have to beef up the tranny because that's the weak link.

If I had the funds then I'd do what saltima is doing on the other forums. But I'd be better off buying a different car that's better prepared for boost stock. Doesn't SFR sell built trannys though? You should save up a lil extra cash and boost

Yup, they have them, but I think it's another $3k. I'd like to have that tranny anyway because it's better then the current featherweight I have now. I think our engines can take quite a bit of punishment before having to upgrade, which is why a small turbo system would be great. Wouldn't it be nice to surprise all those other cars in a family car?

Yeah I've already been through 1 tranny so far, so that tranny would definitely be worth it. Your engine might be able to take some punishment, but I have the QR with 180k miles haha. It would be a great feeling to be able to keep up with this boosted 350z, cammed s2k, and big turbo srt4 in my area. They would would HATE themselves if they lost to an altima.

I say boost it anyway. It'll make your commute that much quicker.
