My car has the conditions described in Service Bulletin NTB06-009a (March 31, 2006) concerning failure of the CAN due to corrosion on ground terminals. I have the code DTC U1000 and no other codes except TCS and ABS which are related to the same problem.
My local dealer (Mexico) says they are not required to fix this free of charge. Is this true? Who can I contact higher up to complain?

TSB's are not recalls and are not warranty items. They exist to help service garages and other dealers help diagnose and fix problems reported through numerous complaints. If you contact Nissan corporate there is a chance they may cover it under good will. That's a long shot though.

I went to my local garage and am waiting for them to put me in touch with an expert in wiring so that I can get it sorted. The dealer pisses me off in the extreme. Last time I went to the dealer they diagnosed (for $80) a strong vibration as an engine mount. It turned out to be a defective valve body (transmission).
