I need help trying to figure out how to get this water pump out. I have the the chain tensioner compressed and pinned. I have the slack on the chain have the pump loose but cant get the chain over the tooth to get it out. So my questions is: Do I need to take the tensioner out? Does this help me get the chain looser?

I found it easier to take the tensioner off when I took the water pump out. In my opinion, the more stuff you remove, the less is in the way. Just make sure you torque to spec anything you remove.
